Iowa Hits New Record for State Business Filings
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate says his office processed a record number of new business filings during the 2016 fiscal year, which ended on June 30. The 20,155 filings mark the first time new business filings have surpassed 20,000 in one year.
“This is a positive sign for business growth in Iowa,”” Pate said. “”It shows more entrepreneurs are taking chances with their capital and investing in startups across the state. As the president of a family-owned business, I can appreciate the importance of small business startups in Iowa. They are the backbone of our economy.”
The previous record of new business filings in Iowa was 18,477, set in FY 2015. There were 15,305 new business filings in FY 2014.
“I’m proud of our Business Services Division for working diligently to make it easier for entrepreneurs and business owners to operate in Iowa by cutting bureaucratic red tape,” Pate added.
