SEO: A Recipe For Success

Your business will benefit when you help search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo better understand your website. This is often referred to as search engine optimization, or SEO for short. And while many companies hire SEO professionals to improve their sites, there are plenty of changes you can make on your own to increase rankings and get more free traffic.

Brainstorm: Start by making a list of the products and services you want to be better known for.

Keyword Research: Learn how your prospects are searching for these items online by using a free tool like Ubersuggest.org.

Update Your Site: Every web page should have a clear purpose and goal. Speak the language your prospects use, and remove pages and sections that don’t offer any real value.

Title Tags: Each page of your site should have a unique title that closely matches the original content of that page. Use your previous research to include the right keywords in each title.

Navigation: Within your content, help visitors find related information by creating internal links to other pages of your site. And don’t be afraid to link out to other websites that offer information your visitors will find useful.

Get Creative: People come back to your website when you offer content that is useful. Develop a plan to keep your website updated with fresh, original, helpful information.

Be Social: Share your best content (articles, images, guides, case studies, videos, etc.) with others using sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Flickr, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant sharing platforms.
