3 Ways to Reignite Your Motivation at Work this Summer
Summer. The word can elicit excitement to spend time with family and friends at grill outs, block parties, or on the trails. But much like a muggy day in mid-July, the dailiness of tasks can s-l-o-w-l-y take a toll on your will to keep hustling at work.
Here are some ways to help reignite your desire to work hard and work well– even though beaches, bike trails, and the sunshine may tempt you to play!
- Remember your purpose.
What made you start down this path of work in the first place? Remind yourself of the empathy you have for the people you serve, the problems you get to solve, the pain you help to alleviate, and the happiness you contribute to your community.
Revisit your why, and show it in how and what you do, and the daily tasks–and according to Simon Sinek’s Ted Talk, likely a loyal customer base–will follow.
- Keep the big picture in mind.
Any work that is worthwhile adds value to human lives. If it’s work worth doing, your daily tasks of email, phone calls, and client meetings matter, because people matter. Keep showing that you care about their flourishing and strive to keep their best interest in mind. Find ways to let your clients, coworkers, and business partners know you care about them.
- Celebrate your team… with your team.
Ask your employees, coworkers, or supervisors what wins they’ve had at work in the past week. Then, take time to celebrate their success with them. Tell them you appreciate the work they do. A little gratitude will go a long way toward keeping you and your team motivated.
Put these three hints into practice, and be sure to make it personal, to create a list to help boost your hustle (and your morale!) at work this summer.
Reminder: Your work makes a difference!
