SBA Seeks Nominations for Small Business Community of the Year

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Iowa District Office is seeking nominations for its first annual Iowa SBA Small Business Community of the Year Award to be presented in May during Small Business Week 2015.

“Small business success is driven by a supportive environment,” said Jayne Armstrong, district director of the SBA’s Iowa District Office. “It is time to honor the Iowa community that best exemplifies an ideal collaborative economic environment for start-ups and small businesses.”

The winner of the award will be selected by officials from the SBA and its resource partners, the Small Business Development Center, SCORE and the Women’s Business Center.

Communities wishing to nominate themselves are asked to address the following regarding their support of small business:

  • Identify key programs and incentives that your community has implemented to attract and retain small businesses.
  • Briefly describe a recent small business success story in which your community contributed to its success.
  • Describe how your community has leveraged its economic development resources with other federal, state, county and local programs to benefit your local small business community.
