NAWBO-IA provides regular educational lunches, onsite excursions to local businesses to learn the challenges and solutions of existing WBOs, topic-based coffees and happy coffees for problem solving and small group discussions, and an annual Women Mean Business® Summit for day-long emersion into critical topics for leaders wishing to grow their business acumen. Events are attended by those wishing to start a business as well as seasoned WBOs with decades of ownership experience. Through NAWBO, the nation’s oldest and most respected organization for WBOs, Iowa business owners have a voice in Washington, D.C. and around-the-world connections to other WBOs. The volunteer-led chapter serves as a connector for building strategic business relationships and an environment for honing one’s leadership and networking skills. It also presents annual awards to women changing the business climate in Iowa and holds an annual golf event.
