About

No matter where you are on your small business journey, we’re here to help. We offer classes, tax assistance, micro-loans, resources and education through our Women’s Business Center and events throughout the year. Iowa Center for Economic Success includes three focus areas, including: CREDIT + LENDING Our Credit + Lending department offers micro-lending and credit counseling to qualifying small business owners. Women, minorities, disabled persons, and service-disabled vets may be eligible for Targeted Small Business status. We can help you work through the qualification process. The Targeted Small Business Program of Iowa, under the Iowa Economic Development Authority, helps women, minorities, and the disabled start or expand their own small business. Besides financial assistance, the program has many additional benefits including:  Access to low-interest loans of up to $50,000 for your business; Advantages in doing business with State agencies as Iowa Code does require each state agency to set spending goals with targeted small businesses; FREE technical assistance, guidance, and counseling when completing the detailed TSB loan application; and listing your business on the TSB Online directory. State agency purchasing agents and private enterprise frequently refer to this directory. EDUCATION + RESOURCES Our Education + Resources department offers classes targeted specifically to small business owners, with flexible schedules and skill-building coursework. In conjunction with our group education courses, we offer one-on-one small business counseling and coaching services to help you start or grow your small business. We also provide free year-round tax preparation and planning to qualifying individuals. Our Women’s Business Center (WBC) program is also housed under our Education + Resources department. The WBC serves female and male entrepreneurs throughout Iowa. Our goal is to help female entrepreneurs develop the skills and resources they need to be successful.  We offer services in person, over the phone, and by email on a schedule that accommodates the needs of working women and their families. The WBC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.  Some of our services are available in Spanish. ADVOCACY + NETWORKING Our Advocacy + Networking department provides networking opportunities with Iowa professionals and introductions to niche small business specialists. Our events are designed to bring like-minded Iowa entrepreneurs together in an environment that promotes community and creativity.
