About

The Corporation for Economic Development in Des Moines was incorporated in 1981 as a 501.C3 local, non-profit corporation. Directed by an 18 member, Board of Directors comprised of local Small Business Owners, Realtors, Bankers, Accountants, Lawyers and representatives of Community Organizations. The CED’s mission is to enhance economic development through industrial and commercial business growth, the creation and retention of jobs, and the provision of technical assistance to the small business sector. To this end, the CED is a Certified Development Company under the Small Business Investment Act of 1958, as amended. As such, it is certified to originate loans under the 504 Program and administers the City of Des Moines’ Revolving Loan Fund and Microloan Programs. The 504 Loan Program provides long-term, fixed-rate financing for the purchase and use of long-term fixed-assets such as land, building and certain equipment. The Revolving Loan Fund and Microloan Programs provide direct loan assistance to small business in need of short-term financing for fixed-assets, equipment, inventory or working capital to facilitate growth.
