Iowa Waste Reduction Center

The Iowa Waste Reduction Center assists Iowa small businesses (fewer than 200 employees) in complying with environmental regulations through free and confidential environmental consultation. The center also conducts research, provides training, and develops technologies for more efficient and environmentally-friendly production painting processes.

The Iowa Waste Reduction Center is a non-profit organization that provides environmentally-focused education, training, and assistance. The Center is composed of various programs with different functions. • The On-Site Review helps businesses stay in compliance with free environmental consultations to Iowa small businesses to assist them in complying with environmental regulations.  • Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program helps apply for permits and paperwork. • Iowa Waste Exchange provides ways to redirect waste from disposal facilities as a means to reuse and recycle material. • The IWRC is also involved in the painting and coatings industry. Multiple training products have been developed to aid painters in improving efficiency including VirtualPaint, and 6H NESHAP Online Training. • The STAR4Defense program provides training certification to military spray technicians in an effort to reduce waste and emissions while IWRC Painter Training focuses on industry. IWRC is a part of Business and Community Services of the College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Iowa.
