Whether you want to start your own business, create a breakthrough niche in an industry, or bring entrepreneurial skills to your current or future workplace, Drake’s entrepreneurship centers will give you the knowledge, experience, and assistance you need to succeed. The Buchanan Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, established by William and Jean Buchanan, is focused on providing up-to-date and challenging academic opportunities for students. Center offerings include Drake’s major in entrepreneurial management and minor in entrepreneurship. Drake’s Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship Outreach, made possible by a gift from John and Mary Pappajohn, serves as a hub for connecting students, alumni, and local business people in a collaborative learning environment. Our newest program, the Lorentzen Student Hatchery, is a unique summer program aimed at fostering student startups and any Drake University student can apply to the Hatchery for the opportunity to get paid while working on their own startup. John Lorentzen (Drake B.A. and B.S.B.A in Political Science, Economics, and Management, 1977) founded the Hatchery through a generous donation with the intent to help Drake University students get a head start on creating their own businesses.Services Provided
