Expert Advice: The "Good Enough" Pitch

Tuesday, August 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm • Organized By West Des Moines Business Incubator
318 5th St., West Des Moines, IA 50265

You’ve started your company, identified customers, developed your business model and created your
minimum viable product. But how do you pitch your company to people that are important to your
success – investors, partners, suppliers?

What does the pitch deck look like? What are the key points that you need to drive across in a short
period of time? How do you make people understand your passion and appreciate your knowledge?
How can you succeed in pitch competitions?

Getting it right = acceleration. Getting it wrong = missed opportunities.

Gregg Barcus has 25+ years’ experience in the entrepreneurial community in Iowa, and currently
teaches entrepreneurship as a lecturer for the University of Iowa, including serving as the lead instructor
for the Des Moines Venture School. The Venture School curriculum incorporates a vigorous pitch deck
component that has allowed graduates to raise money, engage partners and win pitch competitions. He
will share the basic principles – and subtle nuances – of a great pitch.
