Sioux City Gets Ready for the 4th Annual Launch Week

A week of events relating to innovation and entrepreneurship will take place in Sioux City as part of the 4th annual Launch Week, November 3rd – 10th. With speakers, startup presentations and plenty of networking, Launch Week aims to inspire, motivate, and promote collaboration among professionals.

Originally launched in 2008 by former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Carl Schramm, former president of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Global Entrepreneurship Week now spans the globe with nearly 25,000 partner organizations planning more than 37,000 entrepreneurial activities and engaging over 10 million people. These local, national and global events stem from large-scale competitions to small networking gatherings, all geared towards celebrating entrepreneurial success.

Of those women-owned businesses, only a handful are Certified Targeted Small Businesses (TSB). Earlier this year, however, a group of stakeholders from a various state agencies and departments devoted a week to participating in a Lean event focused on growing the number of Iowa’s Certified TSB’s by streamlining and enhancing Iowa’s TSB certification process.
