Women Business 101 Coming to Iowa City/Coralville

In a few short days, women business professionals will come together to provide the first of a four-part series, Women Business 101. The events will be held on four Wednesdays: September 2, September 16, September 30 and October 14 at 401 10th Ave, West Bank building in Coralville. Each session goes from 12 to 1:00 pm.

This 2nd annual series is organized by Yu Yu, an Investment Advisor Representative with Transamerica Financial Advisors.

“I was impressed by the energy created and the collaboration that took place after last year’s event.” said Yu. All sessions are given by professional women in our community. The goal is to create an event to provide information, inspiration and support for women businesses from local women professionals. Net proceeds will be donated to Iowa Women’s Foundation.

Each session will be comprised of various topics key to starting and growing a business. The sessions and topics include:

September 2nd Session: New Funding Program for Startup & Banking Your Business

September 16th Session: Marketing on a Shoestring

September 30th Session: Tax Structure

October 14th Session: Founders Panel Discussion on Do’s and Don’ts

The scheduled presenters include: Jane Burroughs, VP, Operations and Program Funding of Economic Development Center, Minda Hamann, First Vice President, Commercial Lender/Business Banker of West Bank, Nancy Garberson, founder and CEO of Marketing & Communication Strategies, Inc., Ying Sa, founder and principal Certified Public Accountant at Community CPA & Associates, Inc., Jami Gordon, founder and CEO of My COO, Nikki Hynek, founder of Dollup Beauty, Inc., Maureen Kler Osako, founding partner and owner of Informatics, Inc.
