Entrepreneurship in Iowa is important because it creates jobs. This month, we celebrate entrepreneurs in many ways, and continue to support the type of ecosystem that is needed for entrepreneurs to create, grow, and thrive.
The first weekend in November starts with the 7th Annual Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit in Des Moines. This event attracts more than 500 people of diverse backgrounds each year. Come hear the success stories of immigrant entrepreneurs and network with exhibitors. Attendees will also have access to 18 different seminars covering business topics such as international trade, marketing, and accounting.
Global Entrepreneurship Week will kick off November 17th through the 23rd. During this week-long global celebration, IASourceLink will aim to be the main hub for information and events. With more than 40,000 events spread out over a seven day period in more than 120 countries, GEW offers individuals, entrepreneurs, small business owners and even high school students—a chance to unleash their ideas and discover their potential, risk-free.
Just a sampling of events going on across Iowa are: Tech Brew North Iowa and Iowa City, 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and the launch of 1 Million Cups Cedar Valley, an Entrepreneur’s Exchange, and Startup Weekend Cedar Falls. Also taking place during Global Entrepreneurship Week, is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. A conference will be held in New York City on Wednesday, November 19th , that will be dedicated to celebrating, supporting, and empowering women entrepreneurs worldwide. Women’s Entrepreneurship Day will also bring awareness to the 250 million girls living in poverty who we will inspire and empower.
