Augmented Reality in Advertising…and so much more!

Funny when see print advertising with a Facebook logo, but no URL after it- like you are supposed to finger-click on the poster to pull up the Facebook page? I only half joke about this as there is a growing movement of augmented reality permeating traditional print advertising. With augmented reality, the user experience with something in the ‘real’ world is expanded to include an experience in a virtual one.

This is not a simple concept, so I’ll illustrate with some examples:

Augmented Reality Business Cards

AR Business Card from James Alliban on Vimeo.

My business card to the left has a QR code printed on it, that if viewed with the camera of a Smartphone will open a web browser and display the MyEntre.Net homepage.  The QR code is the funky looking box below the UNI logo in the lower left.  I am seeing these codes crop up with increasing frequency around town and in bigger metros like Des Moines.  Where have you seen QR codes used?

Have you seen examples of augmented reality in Iowa?  If so, where and how were they used?
