Netflix a Model Company for Innovation

Netflix a Model Company for Innovation

A few years ago, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings released a 126-slide presentation outlining how to create a corporate culture of innovation, citing specific examples from policy (or non-policy) at work in the Netflix offices.

This is a great slide deck to read through whether you are an employee, manager, or CEO of a company.  It challenges thought for all levels an organization.  What if these principles were applied in other areas outside business and industry? What if some of these principles were adopted into academia?

There are many ed tech Startups popping up and offering solutions and piloting programs to test ways on how to deliver educational content more effectively. Is it possible that the internal makeup of academia and that particular culture needs to be redefined even more intensely so these new products can be delivered effectively?

What happens when a great product is created and is paralyzed because of a disjointed company?  Usually, the product will never bear the fruit as intended.
This slidedeck provides some food for thought about how to innovate and scale in all industries.  Maybe even academia? We’ll see.  According to Hastings, it’s all about “”Freedom and Responsibility.””
