3 Reasons to Consider a Productivity Technique

3 Reasons to Consider a Productivity Technique

Tick, tock, you’re on the clock!
I was sitting at a tech conference learning about productivity when I realized I really, really needed a productivity technique. Desperately. With all of the technology available today, there’s no reason we shouldn’t have exceptional time management. Exceptional time management can be a make-or-break for a fledgling Startup or small biz.

Here are 3 reasons to commit to a productivity technique:

It will help you stop taking orders without producing.
It’s tempting. See an email. Answer an email. Repeat. X10. That’s the easy way to spend a day and think, what did I get done? With a committed technique, most of which make you focus and complete one thing at a time, you will be producing instead of just responding on sight (like Pavlov’s dinner bell dog!).

It will get projects done 3X faster.
Ok, I can’t guarantee this one, but from personal experience I completed a project 2 weeks faster than I anticipated when using the Pomodoro technique. Focusing on being super-productive will get projects done quickly, and it takes diligent and conscientious effort. Productivity techniques keep you accountable.

It’s the right thing to do.
I realize not everyone has clean schedules that can perfectly accommodate productivity techniques, but most of these are customizable to work for you. Doing something, rather than nothing, when it comes to a productivity method or technique is simply the right thing to do. It’s a sure-fire way to have some measurable impact on your input/output ratio.

Here are a few techniques to get started:

• Pomodoro

• Getting Things Done (GTD)

• Seinfeld’s Productivity Secret / Don’t Break the Chain

• The Action Method
