Crowdfunding 201

River Breitback, Lead Vocalist of River Glen
Thursday, June 27th at Noon (Central)

For our last webinar, we hosted Dan Wubbena to present
Crowdfunding 101.  This month we are bringing back the topic and diving even further!  Crowdfunding is the act of generating capital by requesting very small contributions from the general public online.  From KIVA to Kickstarter, Indiegogo, to Go Fund Me, there are many crowdfunding websites that help businesses get cash on the Internet.

River BreitbachJoin us as we welcome River Breitbach, lead vocalist in the Des Moines & Dubuque-based band River Glen, as he reveals his secrets on how he successfully over-funded his aptly named debut album Nothing is Too Little on Kickstarter.

River Glen began his musical career at the age of 2 on the violin. He was raised in Rickardsville, Iowa, a small town located along the Mississippi River (after which he is named). River thrived in a family that nurtured his love for music and performance. Their family band, The One Hat Band, had modest beginnings playing street corners in Galena, Illinois, before blossoming into the widely-recognized and well-loved folksy-family sound that is synonymous with the Breitbach name in the greater Dubuque area.

In 2004, River formed his own band, River and the Tributaries. What started as a group of high school buddies quickly evolved into something of a phenomenon: Riv and Tribs became a sensation from the banks of the Mississippi, winning the VEISHA Battle of the Bands, touring nationally and recording two albums between 2004-2009.

River, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, just released his debut solo album. His music, a blend of folk-pop and organic hip-hop, incorporates socially conscious, slightly satirical, and true-to-life lyrics that entertain and endorse. He earned his degree in Spanish at the University of Iowa and now works in an administrative role within the Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa. He lives in Des Moines with his girlfriend and cat.
