SBA Offers Free Workshop on Resources For Veterans

(CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa) – The U.S. Small Business Administration is holding a free workshop for veterans interested in entrepreneurship on Tuesday, August 18th from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Cresco.

This workshop is designed for veterans, their spouses, and owners of new or existing small businesses. It will give an overview of the SBA services available in Howard County, in coordination with the state’s Home Base Iowa program. The SBA will explain its capital, counseling, and contracting programs and how to take advantage of each. The Howard County Business and Tourism office will explain the Home Base Iowa program and how it benefits veterans in Howard County.

SBA capital programs provide small business financing through Iowa lenders. SBA counseling partners – SCORE, the Women’s Business Center, and America’s Small Business Development Centers – provide new and existing small businesses with counseling and training. The SBA’s contracting programs help entrepreneurs find and acquire sole-source, set-a-side, and competitive government contracts.

The workshop will be held at the REC building, 24049, IA-9 in Cresco, 52136 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m..
