Iowa SBDC Announces New Regional Director for Des Moines Center

The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has hired Christina Moffatt of Des Moines to counsel and train entrepreneurs and existing businesses for the Mid Iowa SBDC in Des Moines. Moffatt will work for the SBDC starting in January.

“The Iowa SBDC is pleased to announce the hiring of Christina Moffatt as director of our Mid Iowa center,” says SBDC State Director Lisa Shimkat. “Not only will Christina provide excellent service to our clients, but she will work hard to build stronger relationships with our partners and encourage new business growth in her central Iowa region.”

Moffatt’s business leadership background includes business ownership, cash flow projections and strong advocacy skills.

“I am very excited to continue the mission of the Mid Iowa Small Business Development Center,” says Moffatt. “I look forward to this opportunity to work with entrepreneurs and small business owners and assist them with their ventures.”

The Mid Iowa SBDC, headquartered in Des Moines, provides complimentary, customized and confidential business counseling and affordable, practical workshops to business owners and entrepreneurs in the following five counties:  Dallas, Jasper, Marion, Polk and Warren. The Mid Iowa SBDC is located in Suite 160 of Capital Square, 400 Locust Street, Des Moines.

The Iowa Small Business Development Center network is an outreach program of the Iowa State University College of Business and partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBDC assists and advises entrepreneurs and existing businesses with 500 employees or less. In 2013, the Iowa SBDC worked with more than 2,500 clients, held 140 training workshops and helped start more than 200 new businesses. Those clients added or retained 1,547 jobs and raised nearly $49 million in capital for their Iowa businesses. SBDC has 15 regional offices located strategically across the state.
