Apply for the Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award
The Governor’s Iowa Environmental Excellence Awards recognize private businesses, organizations and citizens for their efforts to protect Iowa’s water, land and air. For more than ten years, this awards program has served as the premier environmental honors in Iowa, recognizing overall environmental excellence in addition to several project-specific categories including air quality, energy efficiency, habitat restoration, waste management, water quality and environmental education.
Small businesses are especially encouraged to apply; one of the goals of the program is to spread the word of outstanding projects in hopes that other groups decide to embark on their own environmental improvements. These projects and efforts often serve as inspiration to other businesses.
Applications are reviewed by individual judging committees for each category. This summer, Governor Terry Branstad will present winners with their awards at a recognition ceremony and reception in Des Moines.
